ARTSCI 121: A World of Stories

Instructor: Andrew Tsao,  Associate Professor and Head, Undergraduate Program, School of Drama

Course description

One key question is asked at nearly every important job interview: “Why should we hire you?” Your potential employer is asking you to tell them your "story". Leaders, thinkers, innovators and entrepreneurs agree: Story is at the heart of every important human enterprise, from business to arts, science to culture, technology to politics. The story of your college career is about to begin. How will you know what role you are going to play in this important narrative? A WORLD OF STORIES introduces students to the history, meaning, use and power of myth, legend and folklore. Through lectures, group projects and team-based workshops, discover how to become the author of your own story.

More about Professor Tsao

“I was initially kind of concerned about coming to such a big university and meeting people, but  [C21] has been a good way to meet some new friends…We have to turn to each other a lot for support and work together to accomplish the assignments we’re given.”

– Alex, C21 Freshmen Fellow, ‘14
